I was a little overwhelmed to start this project so I started off closely following an example bryan showed us in class, but then quickly gained the confidence and knowledge to play with the different commands at my own leisure. Below are some pattern variations I tested out once I got the polygon,

I explained my processes on the yellow panel stickies in the program below.
I thought at this point I was done, however I reread what we needed and I didn't put in a transformation of some kind and I don't know why I just can't get one to fit. I think it is because my brain is fried. I cannot figure out how to specifically rotate the triangles randomly.
Bryan just came in and helped me figure out that I just needed an axis or rotation and hooked it all together! Problem solved!! Woo!
